HCHF incorporates as a Colorado nonprofit with the mission to preserve the historic structures and important cultural history of the Hunter Creek Valley.
3/9/21
HCHF performs on-site emergency stabilization of the Shop as authorized by WRNF Cultural Heritage Manager Thomas Fuller with pre-measured and drilled beams and cables hauled to site.
5/22/21
IRS grants HCHF tax-exempt status as a public charity under Section 501(c)(3).
5/24/21
Aspen-Sopris District Ranger Kevin Warner approves HCHF's goals to stabilize and preserve the historic structures and resources in the Hunter Creek Valley
7/14/21
White River Nation Forest Supervisor Scott Fitzwilliams approves and signs the formal Partnership Agreement with HCHF describing the goals and responsibilities of the Foundation
9/8/21
HCHF invites team of preservation specialists from HistoriCorps of Colorado to meet on site with Aspen-Sopris Deputy District Ranger Jennifer Schuller, Cultural Heritage Manager Thomas Fuller and entire HCHF team to view, analyze, measure and photograph each structure targeted for stabilization as the basis for a comprehensive Conditions Assessment and corresponding recommendations prior to year-end

HistoriCorps releases its Conditions Assessment and set of detailed recommendations for each proposed Phase of stabilization in 2022 through 2024

HCHF installs suitable metal hog fence panels to restrict public access to interior of the Road House to reduce health and safety risks to the public and eliminate further vandalism and grafitti

Pitkin County Open Space & Trails Board of Trustees unanimously endorses mission and goals of HCHF
2/15/22
Board of County Commissioners for Pitkin County unanimously approves Community Development fee waiver in connection with the County Building Permit for Phase 1 stabilization of the Shop in September of 2022.

State Historic Preservation Office grants clearance requested by WRNF Cultural Heritage Manager Tom Fuller

WRNF District Ranger Kevin Warner approves categorical exclusion of Project under NEPA and issues approval of project with specific mandatory duties and responsibilities of HistoriCorps during Phase 1 work
September 2022
HistoriCorps team of historic preservation specialists and volunteers camp and work on site to stabilize and preserve the Shop and the Outhouse as described in Phase 1
2023
HistoriCorps team of historic preservation specialists and volunteers camp and work on site to stabilize and preserve the Road House and Old Log Cabin as Phase 2
2024
HistoriCorps team of historic preservation specialists and volunteers camp and work on site to stabilize and preserve the Dam Keeper Cabin as Phase 3
